Juvenile Killers in Jail for Life Seek a Reprieve

So a 14 year old kid kills his stepbrother in a scuffle, and somehow got sentenced to LIFE IN PRISON WITH NO PAROLE!  What the hell?  There wasn't even a prosecuting party that would get joy in a sentence like that.  He is now 25, spending 11 years in prison for this scuffle with his brother as a preteen.

His mother stated "I don’t feel he’s guilty, but if he was, he’s already done his time. He should be released. Time served."

I see no reason why this sentence was so intense in the first place, when murderers get off with 5 years and the possibility of parole all the time.

What do you think?  Fair sentence?  Should he be allowed parole?

  1. Wow, this should have been a case of involuntary manslaughter if he accidentally killed him in a scuffle, especially as a child. The prison and judicial system seems to have very little interest in rehabilitation and true justice.

  2. You have the mind to kill you should stay in prison.

  3. For the courts to determine, but honestly these sentances are often revised in lieu of good behaviour. He'll be out in no time.

  4. This is a hard decision, but I think he should continue to stay in prison.

  5. If it was really an accident, then I feel sorry for the guy. But i don't know if i believe it.

  6. I think the sentencing was a bit harsh, although I don't know if it was voluntary or involuntary. If in fact it was involuntary I believe he should be out by now. He did his time and should be granted parole.

  7. I don't know. Murder is murder. The punishment is meant to fit the crime.
