Everyone knows that gas prices are soaring in the United States and around the world. It affects pretty much everything in America, due to the large amount of oil we consume on a daily basis. These rising prices have led politicians to consider an alternative to what we are currently doing: increase the amount of oil we produce on our own soil.
Personally, I'm all for this. I want to be in a position where we buy nothing from the middle east, so we can let that entire area of the world rot away into the Stone Age like they seem so bent on doing. But some may not be as approving of this idea as others.
Cited from the Washington Post: "The president said this month that "Even if we doubled the amount of oil we produced, we'd still be short by a factor of five." That’s simply incorrect. Doubling our production would trim imports nearly in half. Boosting production by a factor of five is not currently feasible, but if it were, it would make the United States the world’s largest producer."
